The Houthi militants attacked on Saturday the Aden refinery burning fuels that the local authorities have been unable to use for months, locals said.
The refinery, the main in the country, was shut down after violence expanded in Aden weeks ago.
The spokesperson for the refinery could not be reached for comment.
The attack with Katyusha rockets coincided with battles between the pro-government forces and the Houthi militants in some parts of the city, the sources said.
The Houthis have been trying to regain areas which lost to the pro-government forces lately.
The situation in Aden has largely deteriorated because of the months-long armed conflict.
More than one thousand of people have died in battles and diseases especially dengue fever amid lacks of services and supplies.
Today, battles continued in the cities of Taiz, Baidha, Marib, Dhali, Ibb and others.
In Taiz, the popular resistance repelled an attack against the Jabal Jarrah by the Houthi militants and forces loyal to the former president, sources within the resistance said.
There were casualties from both sides, they said, without giving a statistic.
In Baidha, the resistance waged fierce battles against the Houthis taking over key positions, locals said.
The resistance has remarkably advanced on the Houthis in Baidha in the past few weeks killing tens of militants and taking over key positions.
In addition, the Saudi-led Arab coalition continued airstrikes against Houthi positions, camps and weapon depots in several cities including the capital Sanaa.
