Saudi-led airstrikes targeted Houthi camps and weapons depots in several Yemeni cities including the capital Sanaa in the past 24 hours.
In Sanaa, the Aldailamy airbase was targeted by several raids and huge explosions were heard after striking a weapons depot at it.
In the Khawlan district on the outskirts of Sanaa, local sources said warplanes attacked a Houthi forces camp which had been training forces and sending them to fight pro-government forces in nearby cities such as Marib.
In Taiz, fighter jets targeted the provincial special forces camp as Houthi militants were shelling residences and populated areas, sources said. The airstrikes paved the way for pro-government fighters to besiege the camp. There were reports the pro-government fighters have already taken over the camp after fierce battles with Houthis in areas adjacent to it.
In Marib, Aden and Shabwa, the pro-government forces made progress on all frontlines.
Sources from the popular resistance said the Saudi-led Arab coalition airdropped advanced weapons that have helped them to advance and besiege the Houthi militants in all areas including the road to Aden international airport.
The developments came a day after the UN envoy Ismail Ould Cheikh arrived in Sanaa on the second visit since he was assigned as the new envoy to Yemen.
On the visit, Cheikh will meet with factions within the UN effort to bring all Yemenis to talks over crisis in Geneva.
The talks, which were scheduled for May 28, were postponed after the government declined to take part in them except after the Houthi militants implement UN resolutions especially the resolution No. 2216 calling on the Houthis to cede power to the legitimate government.
