Scores were killed and injured in Saudi-led airstrikes on Wednesday a day after the Arab coalition revealed a new stage of the military operation in Yemen.
In the capital Sanaa, several airstrikes targeted the headquarters of the Special Forces and a branch of the military intelligence in the Alsabeen district.
More than 60 were killed and around 100 others injured in the raids which coincided with airstrikes on residences of the former president Saleh and his son at the same area, well-informed sources said.
The coalition also targeted military camps and weapon depots in west of the capital.
In the western port city of Hodeida, airstrikes destroyed the country's largest naval base and warships stationed at it, local sources said.
On Tuesday, the Houthi militant group released pictures of allegedly Yemeni-made missiles which the coalition affirmed later were Iranian missiles.
Arab countries accuse Iran of providing financial, logistical and training support to the Houthi militants who ousted the transition president and government in September.
Spokesperson for the Arab coalition Ahmed Asiri revealed yesterday a third stage of intensified airstrikes against all military camps, weapon depots, residences and headquarters was underway.
The first stage was launched on March 26 and the second weeks later.
The fresh airstrikes coincided with continued confrontations between pro-government and pro-Houthi forces in several cities including Taiz, Aden, Dhale and Marib.
In recent days, the Houthis received devastated blows as the pro-government resistance advanced on many frontlines killing and arresting hundreds of Houthis and seizing Houthi weapons and camps.
