President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi urged the UN Security Council to take responsible action in order to implement its resolutions on Yemen.
In his speech to a three-day conference for saving Yemen and building a federal state in Riyadh, Hadi stressed the importance of addressing the south cause fairly and practically.
Since 2012, the Security Council has issued several resolutions on the transition process, the latest No. 2216 was approved in April placing Yemen under the VII chapter of the UN charter.
The resolution called on the Houthi militants to cede power, withdraw from towns and give up weapons seized after the militants had ousted the transition president Hadi and government.
Around 400 people are participating in the Riyadh conference including representatives from all Yemeni factions except the Houthi militant group, local, regional and international organizations, activists and others.
The conference kicked off on the final day of a five-day humanitarian ceasefire following a Saudi-led military operation on the Houthi militants.
The new UN envoy on Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh, called for a five-day extension of the ceasefire.
He urged all parties to respect the truce, stop violence and cooperate with relief organizations so that aid reaches the Yemeni people affected by violence.
Meantime, the attendants at the conference are seeking to find a solution to the post-Houthi takeover violence and political crisis, address the fast deteriorating humanitarian situation and guarantee implantation of the outcomes of the March 2013-January 2014 national dialog conference.
The results of the conference will be based on the Gulf Initiative for power transition which was signed after the unrest swept across the country in 2011.
