Houthi militants and forces loyal to the former regime have retreated at several warfronts in Yemen's southern city of Taiz amid intensifying popular resistance, local sources said on Tuesday.
The sources revealed that tens of Houthi militants and dissident forces have been arrested in the past 24 hours and that the popular resistance has blacklisted many locals aiding the militants.
In the past two days, popular resistance against the Houthi militia in Taiz and adjacent Ibb city preventing reinforcements and weapon supplies from reaching the militants in Taiz.
In response, militants hysterically fired tanks and armored cars at residences, schools and hospitals in many parts of Taiz killing and injuring scores of innocents.
The victims included children and patients who were receiving medical treatment at attacked hospitals.
The popular resistance fighters in Taiz, Aden and Dhale have made gains during the battles against the Houthi militants in the past few days.
On Monday, the high relief committee declared the three cities as stricken with all problems.
At the committee's first press conference in Saudi capital Riyadh, human rights minister Ezz Al-Din Al-Asbahi said the three cities has seen the largest numbers of casualties in recent weeks.
At least 15 people are killed by Houthi snipers in Aden a day, he added.
