Security officials confirmed on Monday morning a U.S-led drone strike targeted in Marib - oil rich province of Yemen east of the capital, Sana'a - a car believed to be carrying alleged al-Qaeda operatives.
Two terror militants were killed in the attack, identified as li Saleh Toaiman and Qassim Nasser Toaiman; five other men were injured in the blast.
Although no clear link was ever established in between the provinces of Marib and Shabwa's sabotage hits against the country's oil infrastructures, one cannot escape noting the increase in recent weeks of Drone attacks in the region, just as "unarmed men" are once again disrupting Yemen's oil and gas flow.
Security officials told the Yemen Post under cover of anonymity the U.S and President Hadi Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi were looking to step up their military operations against al-Qaeda operatives in the region, ahead of the National Dialogue to guarantee stability.
With so many over-lapping security issues -- Southern issue, Tehran alleged meddling and the Houthis -- Yemen and its partners are determined to get terrorism under control, especially since al-Qaeda network has proven to be as far reaching as Africa.
However, with more collateral casualties than successes and the matter of national sovereignty, President Hadi's detractors continue to argue that America's war against terror is counter-productive and a catalyst for anti-Western sentiment.
