President Abdrabu Mansour Hadi will preside over the first meeting of the technical committee in charge with preparing for a comprehensive national dialogue in Yemen.
According to official media the meeting is expected to be held next Saturday.
The committee was formed in mid-July and was expected to hold its first meeting ten days later, but political disagreements and controversy about some of its members and the way it was formed cast a cloud over its schedule.
The meeting will choose the committee’s chairman, two deputies and a rapporteur.
The committee will work hard to meet the requirements for the dialogue, which will culminate the power-transfer deal, brokered by the GCC and backed by the UN after the turmoil in late 2011, the sources said.
According to the republican decree forming the 25-member committee, the dialogue, which was earlier planned for early November, will address key issues and are expected to result in productive outcomes including a constitution formulation committee and key decisions to reform the constitutional and democratic systems.
Furthermore, the dialogue will address the south cause and other key national issues topped by the situation in Saada.
