The Yemeni Journalist Syndicate (YJS) has condemned the assassination attempt against the media secretary of president Abdu Rabo Masnor Hadi, Yahya Al-Arasi.
In a statement, YJS demanded the security authorities to promptly investigate the event, arrest the perpetrators and brief YJS on the outcomes of investigations.
It expressed its solidarity with al-Arasi, stressing the importance of firmly standing against any criminal acts.
In remarks to the London-based al-Sharq Al-Awsat Newspaper, Al-Arasi said that the incident he was subjected to on Monday was plotted, pointing out that the attackers were waiting for him and tried to intercepted his car.
He spelt out that the attackers showered his car with bullets as he escaped, pointing out that all its tires were torn.
Several Yemeni military and security commanders were killed during the past two months after Al-Qaeda received painful attacks in its main strongholds in Jaar and Zinjibar, and its militants were cleansed from them.
On June, Al-Qaeda killed Commander of the Military Southern Region Salem Qatan after al-Qaeda was defeated in southern Yemeni governorates.
Commander of the Air Force 190th Brigade, Yahya Al-Rowaishan, survived an assassination attempt in Hadramout province on Sunday, indicating that an explosive device was planted on the roadside in the Rawkab district and was detonated while the commander was leaving his home.
In the port city of Aden, the security authorities thwarted on Sunday a bombing attempt near the headquarters of the political security.
The authorities discovered an explosive device, which was put at the Mina'a sports club and at the entrance of the political security office, and defused it, according to September 26 website.
