On Monday, Premier Mohammed Salem Basindwah launched the National Bank for Food program organized by Himmat Shabab Federation for Development.

The National Bank for Food will provide hundreds of poor families with foodstuffs necessary for Ramadan. It aims to alleviate hunger and poverty and encourage principles of social solidarity and cooperation.

In his speech at the launch, Basindwah underlined the importance of such charity programs which help alleviate and offset the suffering of the poorest families in the country.

He further stressed the importance of the cooperation between the civil society organizations in order to launch such programs, commending Himmat Shabab for its pioneering role in launching such charity projects.

"While Yemen is moving forward, we have to cooperate and unify efforts in order to build a new Yemen and a civilized, democratic state," he said, adding that Yemen depends on the youth to achieve that as they are the present's and future's makers.

"I'm confident that all of us love Yemen, so we have to cooperate to build our nation…..and put the past behind us for the sake of better present and future," he added.

Basindwah pointed out that his government is working on priorities, topped by alleviating poverty and reducing the soaring unemployment rate.

For his part, Himmat Shabab head Murad Mutaher said that his organization aims through launching the National Bank for Food to provide impoverished families with enough food and to bolster the cooperation and solidarity among the people.
