An Official source in the Yemeni government revealed on Thursday that the Friends of Yemen Meeting has been postponed and rescheduled for September of this year. The meeting was set to take place on this past Wednesday.

The state-run 26 newspaper reported citing a government official that the Friends of Yemen Meeting will be held early September in the Saudi capital of Riyadh and that the government is going to put forward to Yemen's friends a development plan intended to improve the political and economical state.

He pointed out that Yemen's plan for Stability and Development, which was approved by the cabinet on Tuesday, is the main program that the government would take forward to the donors at the upcoming Friends of Yemen Meeting that aims to help avoid an economic collapse in the poor Gulf state.

Speaking about the government- approved plan, he noted that it aims to restore political and economical stability and security during the transitional stage (2012-2014).

He said, according to 26 newspaper, that the National Unity Government is focusing on some priorities in order to overcome the ill-effects of the prolonged political crisis including the continuation of the peaceful transfer of power, the establishment of security and stability, and the achievement of political stability, in addition to meeting the emergency humanitarian needs and requirements.

Further aims of the plan include implementing a mid-term economic recovery and stimulating the economic growth in order to reduce the soaring rate of unemployment, working to achieve the youth's aspirations, strengthening the private sector role and improving the environment for investment, said the unnamed official.
