A bomb blew up on Monday at the fence separating the houses of governor and deputy governor of Abyan province which are located in the province capital of Zunjbar.
No injuries were reported with slight damages caused to the two homes.
Police have not identified who was behind the explosion which took place in a province where many troops were recently deployed to hunt wanted suspects.
Some confrontations took place between gunmen and troops but the authorities could control the situation.
The troops, sent to the Ja'ar district, have left their positions but hunt for suspects is ongoing, local sources said.
Fifteen suspects were arrested so far since troops were deployed with some wanted people handing themselves in to the authorities.
Military reinforcements in Abyan came within a massive hunt for terrorist suspects launched after the recent two suicide attacks against South Korean in which four tourists were killed and other injured.
