United Nations Development Program regional director Benz Frandzen revealed on Wednesday an emergency plan to support and assist the trouble-hit state in its two years transitional period.
The revelation came during a meeting with Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Mohammed Al-Sadi in the Yemeni capital of Sana'a.
The UN support plan is based on 4 parts: enhance the democratic process, improve the social public services, support the National Reconciliation Government efforts aimed to establish justice and powerful independent judicial system, and improve dialogue between the various political forces in the country.
For his part, Al-Sadi expressed his appreciation for the huge efforts exerted by UN to help Yemen exit the current crisis which resulted in humanitarian catastrophe.
He stressed the important role that UN can play in raising funds and garnering support to help the government meet its commitments, including building a strong civil state that lives up to the aspirations of the Yemenis who took to streets demanding change and reforms.
On Tuesday, UNICEF warned of humanitarian disaster in the Gulf poor state as the crisis was combined with dramatic hiked in food items, heightening the malnutrition among children.
Yemen is on of the poorest countries in the world with more half of its population living below poverty line.
Separately, al-Qaeda militants evacuated the southeast Yemeni town of Rada after the army threatened to force them out of it.
Yemen-based al-Qaeda branch has strengthened its foothold it the southern provinces of the country, apparently taking an advantage of distracted and undermined government.
