Two citizens were killed and four others injured when jet fighters struck Al-Makhzan district near the city of Jaar in Yemen's Abyan province where the army has been fighting Islamists.
Newyemen.net quoted locals as saying that Hussein Al-Ghadri and Muhammad Al-Shaeri were killed in the airstrike and that homes were destroyed as well.
Battles are continuing between the army and Islamists in Abyan where the Sharia supporters or Al-Qaeda militants have taken control of some cities triggering fears about the future of the province.
In the north, hundreds of families fled Nihm district on the outskirts of the capital Sana'a after the army resumed shelling some villages. The republican guard in Arhab and Bani Al-Harith districts shelled villages heavily, but there were not casualties, locals said.
The army started the operations in Nihm more than a month ago after tribesmen took control of some military camps.
