Fierce clashes have erupted between the security forces and suspected Al-Qaeda terrorists in Abyan Province.

The confrontations started on Thursday afternoon in the Lowder district and left casualties from both sides.

According to independent sources, two security were killed and two others injured and two military vehicles were destroyed.

No official comments have been made so far.

Yemen is continuing a massive hunt for Al-Qaeda suspects in all governorates.

In late 2009 and early 2010, the authorities carried out successful terror operations in northern, southern and southeastern regions killing, injuring and arresting may Al-Qaeda suspects.

Today's clashes came after AQAP vowed it would continue to fight the authorities, claiming responsibility for recent deadly attacks on intelligence and public security offices in these areas.
