Political Revolution in Yemen

*
 Hakim Almasmari

At a time when both the ruling party and opposition are showing signs of opening doors for negotiations, Yemenis are losing hope. People know that the negotiations between both sides will only buy the ruling party more time, therefore making the Yemeni ship sink even more in corruption, bad administration and loss of hope for change.
Yemenis today are as ready as ever for change and most believe they have nothing to lose. People don’t think that matters can get any worse. The President was threatening that Yemen could turn out to be another Somalia if he leaves power. Some even think Yemen is already the Somalia he threatened it to be.
Yesterday a large number of Harf Sufyan tribal leaders and officials were killed and stayed under siege for more than 18 hours. The government did nothing to stop Houthis from killing the Sheikhs who thought they have a government whose duty is to give them security at all times.
Why are people loyal to a government that gives them nothing in return, even when it comes to saving their life from a criminal or a rebel group? People pay taxes in exchange for services. When no services are there to give, then no loyalty will be there.
Expect in the next couple of months a new peaceful revolution to start and run by the normal people of Yemen. People who have nothing to lose and everything to gain. People who will be doing so for the sake of the country and not personal interests.
The country is in dire need for positive change. This change will come and people from all angles will participate in order to save Yemen from falling deeper in a hole that is eating the country and its resources more and more.
Yemenis are looking forward to the country that was once a symbol of civilization and modernization to the rest of the world.
