The Yemeni-American Cleric, Anwar Al-Awlaqi, called in an audio message obtained by CNN, Muslims of the United States to uprising against their government, which is waging a war against Islam and Muslims, he said.

Al-Awlaqi said in the recording "My message to the Muslims in the United States is how your allegiance can be to a government that is waging the war against Islam and Muslims? and wondered "How can your conscience allow you to live in peaceful existence with a nation is responsible for tyranny and crimes committed against your brothers and sisters?

 

He added "I was born in the United States, and lived there for 21 years, but with the U.S. invasion for Iraq and the continued U.S. aggression against Muslims, I could no longer be able to combine between being a Muslim and between living in the United States." according to the same source.

Al-Awlaqi stated that he had reached the conclusion that jihad against America is binding upon himself just as it is binding on every Muslim able to do so.

He drew a tribute to the young Nigerian Umar Farooq Abdul-Muttalib, who carried out the failed attack on the American plane last Christmas holiday, which was adopted by al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, which is active in Yemen, he asked, "What is the interest of the American people to suffer in order to support Israel and support for Al Saud and the rest of the ruling families in the Gulf."
