The U.S. renewed on Tuesday its support for Yemen's unity, with President Barack Obama writing President Saleh that the unity is a crucial factor for the country's success and the region's security and stability.
The letter was delivered by Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffrey Feltman.
In his letter, Obama also reiterated his country's financial support to face Yemen's economic problems and upgrade its anti-terror capability and assured the U.S. would furthermore support Yemen within the Group of Yemen's Friends.
He also stressed the importance of boosting the bilateral relationship.
President Saleh discussed with Feltman in Sana'a means to strengthen mutual cooperation in various fields.
Feltman praised Yemen's efforts to fight terror and Saleh's decision to stop the military operations in the far north.
Early this year, the U.S. decided to increase its aid to the country from $ 90 million in 2009 to more than $ 140 million.
