Under the slogan “we can make change”, six independent non-governmental organizations working on human rights, the Yemeni Human Rights Network (YHRN), launched a rights project in partnership with the Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR).
“The YHRN works through professional partnership to contribute to enhancing an independent judiciary, improving civil society performance, promoting dialogue, freedom of expression and access to information”, said Mohammed Al-Maqtari chairman of YHRN.
In our network, we depend on the space of democracy available to do our work and we are ready to partner with government and non government institutions to build a strong human rights base, said Al-Maqtari to Yemen Post.
“We consider ourselves lucky to participate in launching this network where its members are one united voice,” said Amani Salim the YHRN coordinator with the Danish Institute.
“We in the DIHR are admired of the six-member team which include: the National Society for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms (HOOD), The Yemeni Human Rights Observatory, Human Rights Training and Information Center (HRTIC), Women Journalist Without Chains (WJWC), Democracy School, and the Yemeni Organization for the Defense of Rights and Democratic Freedoms (YODD). Their capacity of undertaking an open conversation with each other where they could exchange “various” points of view and come out with an agreement to joint work is a positive sign, Salim said”.
