A security official was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Yemen's southern port city of Aden on Monday, local officials said.
General Mohammed Kali, who worked at the interior ministry, was killed in the district of Mansourah, the officials said.
The incident was the latest in a spate of targeted killings in the temporary capital since it was liberated from the Houthi militants in June.
The attackers ran away before the police arrived at the scene, they added.
Though troops from the Saudi-led coalition are responsible for restoring security and guarding the government in Aden, the security situation is continuing to deteriorate.
Days ago, two security officials were targeted and, like usual, the attackers went at large.
In addition, ISIL's militants have lately become active in the city and were responsible for the deadly attacks on the residences of government and UAE troops backing and guarding it.
