Vice President and Premier Khalid Bahah along with some ministers paid a visit to Yemen's province of Marib, officials said on Sunday.
The pro-government forces with support from the Saudi-led coalition have lately driven the Houthi militants out of Marib.
The battles in a few areas on the border with Sanaa are continuing sporadically.
On the visit, Bahah held a meeting with the local government and discussed the province's issues especially the security situation, the officials said.
Key investments including the fields producing natural gas processed at the Balhaf LNG Plant are based in Marib.
The Arab coalition, bombing the Houthis since March, deployed thousands of troops and large equipment including tanks, armored vehicles and helicopters to help retake Marib from the militants.
Earlier, it helped the Yemeni forces to retake southern regions after months of deadly battles with the Houthis and forces loyal to the former president.
Meanwhile, Bahah's visit coincided with raging battles in the provinces of Taiz and Dhali.
Local sources said the forces have retaken several districts in the past few days including Al-Rahida and Al-Shoraija on the border with Lahj province.
With support from the coalition including airstrikes, the forces are advancing toward central Taiz after western and eastern parts have been retaken, the sources said.
In Dhali, the forces are besieging the Houthis in the district of Damt their last stronghold in the southern province liberated from the militants in May.
Recently, the forces repelled Houthi attacks to come back to the south through Dhali driving the militants out of their newly seized positions.
