The World Meteorological Organisation WMO warned on Friday that another cyclone is heading towards Yemen a day after the destructive four-day cyclone Chapala was over.
The new cyclone, Megh, is expected to slam the regions affected by Chapala on the Arabian Sea including the Socotra archipelago, it said.
It added that the new cyclone is expected to intensify into "a severe cyclonic storm" over the next 24 hours, with wind speeds of up to 100 km per hour, according to news agencies.
Locally, the Yemen meteorological service said the cyclone is heading toward the Gulf of Aden with a speed of 17 km per hour.
It expected that the cyclone will slam Socotra, Mahrah and Mukalla.
Chapala killed around a dozen of people, injured tens and displaced more than 40.000 others.
It brought heavy rains resulting in floodwaters that destroyed around 450 houses.
Today, reports said the UN has already started delivering relief aid to those affected by Chapala.
In the meanwhile, the rare cyclones coincided with a several-months armed conflict in Yemen.
The conflict, including a blockade on all sea, land and air ports by the Saudi-led coalition, has left the country to face a humanitarian catastrophe.
