The UN envoy Ismail Ould Chiekh said he will start arrangements for the talks between the warring parties as he affirmed the situation in Yemen requires to waste no time.
In his speech to the United Security Council, he affirmed the Houthi group and the General People's Congress, the party of the former president, agreed to comply with the council's resolution 2216 and that the government agreed to attend the peace talks expected later this month.
"The time and venue for the talks will be announced very soon," he said.
Late on Friday, the Security Council urged the Yemeni warring parties to participate in the talks flexibly and productively so that peace prevails in the country permanently.
Moreover, it called for cooperation from all parties in order to deliver relief aid to the people affected by the several-months conflict and an mediate response from donors.
In the meanwhile, the battles between the Yemeni forces backed by the popular resistance and the Saudi-led coalition and the Houthi militants are continuing in some cities including Taiz and Marib.
Reports from the two cities said the national forces have made fresh gains retaking positions from the Houthis.
The coalition has been bombing the militants since March.
In the past 24 hours, it conducted airstrikes in several cities including the capital Sanaa.
