Fierce battles continued between the pro-government forces and the Houthi militants in Yemen's southern city of Lahj on Saturday.
Sources within the popular resistance which is backing the government forces said the battles are taking place in the Musaimeer and Sabir districts.
The forces are seeking to retake the Labouza brigade in Musaimeer, they said, pointing out that several resistance fighters were killed and injured in the battles.
More than a dozen Houthis were killed as well, they added.
The Saudi-led coalition which has been bombing the Houthi camps, positions and weapon depots since late March struck on Saturday Houthis in Lahj in support of the government forces, the sources said.
Moreover, the forces have been besieging the Al-Anad military base since they regained Aden and drove the Houthis out it days ago.
On the other hand, reports said the Houthi group and the former president Saleh sent reinforcements into South Yemen and that the Arab coalition targeted some of their convoys.
Confrontations also continued in other cities including Marib and Baidha where sources affirmed the government forces fought, raided and ambushed Houthi fighters killing many of them.
Early Saturday, the coalition announced a five-day ceasefire will begin Monday.
During the truce, aid will be delivered to millions of people affected by the conflict.
