The UN envoy Ismail Ould Cheikh has called on warring parties to respect the ceasefire in Yemen which was violated immediately after it took effect days ago.
Media agencies quoted Cheikh as saying there is misunderstanding between the Yemeni factions and that's why the ceasefire is being violated.
The ceasefire has not collapsed yet and we are exerting major efforts to establish a political and peaceful solution to the Yemeni crisis, he was quoted as saying.
Since the week-long humanitarian ceasefire began on Friday, the Saudi-led Arab coalition has been striking Houthi camps and weapon depots coinciding with persistent confrontations between the pro-government forces and Houthi militants in several cities.
Aid has neither come through into Yemen nor delivered to people affected by the conflict during the first four days of the truce so far. The truce was the second since the conflict began early this year. In May, a five-day ceasefire occurred but it was violated and not enough aid was allowed.
On the other hand, he ruled out a new round of talks in Geneva will be held by the Yemeni factions in the near future while warning of the aggravation of the humanitarian catastrophe.
There are around 20 million people, 80% of Yemen's total population, are in need of emergency aid and these people are very close to famine, he added.
The situation has further deteriorated because of a blockade on all Yemeni sea, land and air ports.
The blockade was part of the Saudi-led Arab military intervention and has been leaving the country without supplies especially foodstuffs, fuels and medicines.
