At least 13 civilians were killed and around 60 others injured in a fuel truck explosion in Yemen's southern city of Taiz on Monday, local medical sources said.
The death toll is expected to rise since some of those injured were in critical condition, they added.
Eyewitnesses said the truck caught fire while people were around it after it discharged petrol in downtown Taiz.
On the other hand, unconfirmed reports said the truck was hit by a rocket probably by the Houthi militants who locals said have been preventing fuels and other key supplies from coming through into the city.
Locals said the Houthis are besieging the city as part of their war against the resistance and that the population have been facing lacks of all supplies for more than a month.
A few houses were affected in the incident coinciding with persistent violence which escalated in the past two days into guerrilla battles between the local resistance fighters and the Houthis on many streets.
Today, the resistance raided all Houthi positions and camps but there were no reports about casualties.
On Sunday, around 70 Houthis and forces loyal to the former president Saleh were killed and injured in the clashes with the resistance. In response, the Houthis shelled populated areas killing more than 10 civilians and injuring dozens.
Separately, the popular resistance in Dhale took over the 33rd military brigade which had been shelling the city and fighting pro-government fighters in support of the Houthis.
