At least 70 Houthi militants and pro-former president forces were killed and injured in guerrilla battles with popular resistance fighters on streets of Yemen's southern city of Taiz on Sunday, Aljazeera channel reported.
The popular resistance also killed 8 Houthi snipers, it added.
In what appeared to be a response after their losses, the Houthis shelled populated area in Taiz killing 10 civilians and injuring 40 others.
According to sources within the resistance, more than 500 rockets targeted residences as medical reports revealed that more than 200 civilians were killed in recent violence in Taiz.
Separately, a Houthi leader and several fighters were killed in Saudi-led airstrikes in the northwestern city of Rimah, local sources said.
Several air raids targeted the Houthis in this city for the first time since the Arab military operation was launched on March 26.
On the Jawf frontline, well-informed sources said today military reinforcements and weapons including armoured vehicles were sent the Jawf fighters who seized some areas in Saada, the Houthi stronghold on the border with Saudi Arabia.
The reinforcements came from Marib and arrived in the Yatamah district in Saada, the sources said.
