Fierce battles erupted between local popular committees and Houthi militants in Yemen's port city of Aden on Sunday, members of committees said.
Three tanks of the militants were destroyed in the battles that occurred in the Qalou'ah district, they said.
Houthi militants with support from forces loyal to ex-president Saleh continued to shell populated areas with mortars and civilian casualties were reported today, they added.
Around 200 from popular committees' fighters have been killed and around 2000 others injured in Aden since the battles against the Houthi militants began.
The humanitarian situation is fast deteriorating as the militants have been besieging Aden preventing families from leaving, striking ambulances and preventing help from reaching people.
Meanwhile, Arab jets struck a Houthi reinforcement and supply convoy between Aden and Abyan cities.
Arab countries have been continuing a military operation against the Houthi militants and pro-Saleh forces for the eleventh day.
Jets from these countries have struck many military bases and weapons in several cities including the capital Sanaa, Aden, Taiz and Hodeida.
Separately, Hadramout tribes have seized provincial military brigades forcing Houthi militants to flee their region.
The tribes are preparing for fighting Al-Qaeda whose miss ya seized Mukalla city days ago.
