The presidency in Yemen announced on Monday a ceasefire to the clashes between the forces and Houthi militants.
It made a statement about that while calling for an urgent meeting by all factions including the Houthi Militant Group.
The clashes broke out this morning near the presidential palace in south of the capital city of Sanaa amid rising tensions between the presidency and the militants over the abduction of an aide of president.
Heavy weapons were used by both sides and sporadic exchange of fire is still continuing until now.
The Houthi Group seized Sanaa in September and has since been tightening its grip on power by force.
The latest tensions come as the group is seeking to put pressure on transition president Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi to modify the draft constitution.
