Tribes and social dignitaries have gathered in South Yemen and urged the Houthi Militant Group to release Director of transition president's office Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak.
They demanded bin Mubarak be released in 24 hours.
The meeting called on people in the provinces of Shabwa, Hadramout and Marib to be ready for action in response to the abduction. In a press release, the meeting called for measures against oil and gas companies in the three provinces.
Moreover, the tribes threatened more actions including civil disobedience and forming a follow-up committee while condemning kidnapping.
Houthi militias claimed responsibility for the abduction allegedly to prevent attempts affecting the implementation of the peace and national partnership agreement.
However, Yemeni officials said the abduction was aimed at putting pressure on president Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi to modify some provisions of the new constitution. Houthi have rejected the new constitution and demand now that Yemen becomes a federation of two not six regions.
Meanwhile, reports said the Houthi Group has demanded bin Mubarak be fired from his current job in return for his release.
