The constitution committee said it had finalized the preliminary draft of new Yemeni constitution amid unconfirmed reports that the representative of the Houthi Group has rejected to sign the draft.
Lately, the Houthi Group and the Southern Movement have revealed their rejection to the new constitution. Moreover, The Houthi Group, which seized the capital Sanaa in September, has expressed its rejection to federalism justifying that by saying federalism is an indirect way to divide Yemen.
In a press release, the committee revealed the draft included 466 provisions including those for federal regions and the constitutional court.
The statement said the draft will be published in media after the committee submits it yo the national commission on the dialog outcomes implementation supervision.
Meanwhile, spokesperson for the committee Maeen Abdulmalik criticized media outlets which have published reports about the draft or incorrect copies of the draft.
He did not say when the draft will be submitted to the commission. The constitution committee missed the scheduled deadline for the submission of the draft a week ago.
