Suspected Al-Qaeda militants killed an intelligence officer in Yemen's central governorate of Baidha, the latest targeted killing of officers so far this year, eyewitnesses said on Monday.
Nasser Al-Wohaishi was shot dead by the militants who were driving car at a popular market, they said.
Many military and security officers have lately been assassinated in Baidha where the Houthi Militant Group has been fighting Al-Qaeda for months.
Separately, chief of the first military command survived assassination in the eastern governorate of Hadramout today.
A bomb was placed by unknown attackers in the car of Brigadier Gen. Abdurrahman Al-Halily and he managed to escape when it was detonated.
Al-Qaeda has been very active in southern and southeastern regions including Hadramout.
It claimed responsibility for assassinating tens of military and security officers mostly intelligence members as well as deadly operations against military and security installations, personnel and checkpoints in the past few years.
