Yemen suggested on Wednesday to delay the ministerial meeting of Friends of Yemen Group planned for later this month in Saudi capital Riyadh, saying the move will help better arrange for the meeting.
The announcement was made at the meeting that gathered Foreign Minister Abu Bakr Al-Qirbi and the ambassadors of the EU member states, U.S., Russia and China as well as the UN representative to the country.
The meeting focused on the latest developments at local and regional levels, stressing the importance of dialogue as the most practical tool to achieve stability and promote democracy in Yemen.
The proposal also comes as hundreds of thousands of people have been staging protests and sit-ins across the republic demanding the ouster of the regime.
