During his meeting with Japan’s Ambassador to Yemen, Minister of Industry and Trade Yahya Al-Mutawakil discussed the possibility of signing an agreement with Japan on Yemen’s accession into the World Trade Organization.

The meeting also dealt with issues related to the interest of Japan in the industry of cement in Yemen and the possibility of participation in future cement plants enlargements.

Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the possibility of providing Japanese assistance for the food security strategy in Yemen as well as the establishment of mills and encouraging competition in crops trade.

On the other hand and within efforts to boost the national economy through brining foreign capitals to the country, preparations got underway for a new national investment conference scheduled for October this year.

The forum would be organized by the federations of chambers of industry and trade in Yemen and the Gulf Cooperation Council.

About 65 Gulf companies and other regional and international interested bodies are expected to take part in the meeting which officials say will represent a push for the national economy.
