The leader of the Houthi rebels in the northern province of Saada released on Saturday thirty soldiers of those who were arrested during clashes with troops.

The soldiers were handed over to the Mediation Committee set up to end the Saada War.

The soldiers were of those who were detained in the Marran district.

A spokesman for Abdul Malik Al-Houthi, the rebel leader, said the move comes to prove good-will to eliminate the traces of the war and to establish peace in the areas where the war took place.

The spokesman, however, called on the government to free the Houthis detained in connection with the rebellion.

In September, the government released about 250 Houthi rebels.
