Earlier this week, parliament approved the International Convention on Protecting and Promoting the Rights of Disabled people. In the session headed by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hemyar Al-Ahmar, Parliament prompted the government to finalize procedures of ratification process and accession to this convention and its protocol, as the government should also take the necessary legislative actions according to article (4) of the convention and other related articles to make the convention effective. The convention's main goal is to protect and ensure the rights of people with disabilities and make them equal with others in all aspects, enhancing the basic rights and increasing their dignity.
