Tribal groups from Wailah tribe located on the borders between Yemen and Saudi Arabia prevented the Saudi-Yemeni compensation committee from embarking on their task. The committee aims to compensate those citizens residing in the Yemeni-Saudi borders – early granted the Saudi nationality – and shift them into the Saudi lands.
The citizens demand to be treated according to Al-Taif Agreement signed in 1936 between Imam Yahya of Yemen and the Saudi king Abdulaziz Al Saud, while, Saudi authorities now express its concerns over their uncontrolled entrances and exists, hinting they are top security risks.
A tribal source from Wailah Tribe told Yemen Post that Sheikh Bin Shag'e Al-Tuhami and Sheik Al-Dhurami stopped the committee on Saturday from implementing their tasks, causing the committee to withdraw into Khufash area inside the Saudi lands.
Still, Saudi Arabia wants not to make any differences with tribes neighboring its borders in an effort to keep the security and stability.
The source added that over 10,000 people live in the Saudi-Yemeni border and most of them have the nationality of both countries.
